Our mission is "to help youth stay in school, off drugs and alcohol, and out of the criminal justice system."

Dallas Challenge is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs and services that steer young people away from destructive behaviors. Youth participants are generally 7-24 years of age with a history or high risk of substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, truancy, school failure and other unacceptable behavior patterns. Dallas Challenge serves youth and their families from primarily low socioeconomic areas of Dallas and surrounding communities.

Dallas Challenge prides itself on dealing directly with the crucial issues youth face today. The teenage years are the most difficult and stressful period of one’s life. The transition between childhood and adulthood is often accompanied by fear, alienation, and self-doubt. While some young people get through this life stage relatively unscathed, increasing numbers are caught in a downward spiral of issues like alcohol and drug abuse that can affect their future.

Dallas Challenge recognizes the severity of problems faced by today's youth and has worked since 1984 to help turn lives around one child and their family at a time. In collaboration with other organizations in the community, Dallas Challenge is able to provide immediate comprehensive and quality services to youth and families in need.

Program components include:

• Drug and alcohol prevention, education, intervention and outpatient treatment
• Assessment, screening and referral services
• Anger management curriculum
• Truancy education, intervention and case management
• Family education and communication skills development
• Group and individual counseling
• Community service activities
• Recreational activities, special events and celebrations
